- Talk with household members, other relatives, friends and neighbours to discuss what to do if a Covid-19 outbreak occurs in your community and what the needs of each person will be. (Remember if you don't already live with the person make these plans by phone or online rather than face to face contact - Social distancing is important!)
- If your neighbourhood has a website or social media page consider joining it to maintain access to neighbours, information and resources.
- Consider setting up a buddy system within your neighbourhood to ensure everyone stays connected with Covid-19 news and updates and is able to receive or acquire essentials.
- Plan ways to care for and help isolate those who may be at greater risk of serious complications.
- Choose a room in your home that could be used to separate sick household members from those that are healthy.
- Learn how to self isolate. Guidance can be found on the NHS Website
- Create a list of organisations that you and your neighbours can contact in the event that one of you needs access to information, healthcare, support or resources. consider including organisations that provide mental health, counselling services, food and other supplies.
- Create an emergency contact list of family, friends, neighbours and healthcare providers.
- Practice everyday preventive actions including regular hand washing. NHS Guidance On Handwashing | WHO Guidance on Basic Protective Measures | CDC (Centre for Disease Control) Guidance on Handwashing for Families
